Sydney Geotechnical Drilling - A couple of interesting images.
Recently captured a couple of great shots with Legion Drill crews undertaking drilling works on the Sydney “Metro” project in New South Wales (NSW). The image above shows one of our Boart Longyear DB520 Multipurpose rigs completing an 50m HQ3 geotechnical core location in the shadow of the HMS Endeavour replica. The ship was in dry dock for maintenance in Rozelle Sydney and it was a pretty awe inspiring image when we turned up to complete a site audit.
The second shot is from the same project but shows Legion Drillings Geoprobe Sonic 8140 sitting on the perimeter of the now decommissioned White Bay power station. I believe this facility was decommissioned int he early 1990’s. The sonic rig was bought in to conduct continuous sampling down to 30m in sands and install 50mm environmental monitoring wells. The backdrop of the towers makes for a dramatic scene and its always great to work in areas of historical significance.
