Production Water Bores
Legion Drilling has a depth of experience as water bore drilling contractor. Our drilling company has drilled and constructed high-flow water wells in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. This includes the construction of municipal supply bores up to 250 mm with both PVC and stainless steel construction.
LICENSED DRILLERS
All Legion Drilling rig operators hold a minimum class 1 water-well licence and a Cert III in Drilling Operations. Licensed drillers are required in all Australian states for the installation of any bore that intersects groundwater, regardless of the diameter and intended use. Class 1 drillers are required to install bores into a single aquifer. Class 2 drillers are required when installing bores through multiple aquifers. Class 3 drillers are necessary where artesian conditions are expected or as directed by the relevant state water authority.
PUMPING TESTING
Legion Drilling can supply a team to run step down and constant-rate pumping tests required to understand long term production capacity. Pumping tests are generally conducted after the well has been constructed to avoid any standby rates on the drill rig. An air lift test whilst the rig is still over the bore location can provide indicative flow rates that are less precise.
EQUIPMENT COMPLIANCE
Legion Drilling rigs, support vehicles and compressors have been setup to meet industry leading health and safety specifications. Our management team is specialised in managing projects in high-risk and high-compliance environments.
ABOVE GROUND FLUID SYSTEM
Legion Drilling’s mud rotary drilling setup has been designed with a ‘nothing to ground’ or ‘no spill’ specification. All fluids and wastes are contained are captured at the drill rig and circulated through above ground tanks. Our aim is to have minimal impact at the drill locations and leave no sign of our actives once we are gone. All drill fluids used have been selected to minimise any environmental impact whilst maintaining efficient productions rates.
BORE CONSTRUCTION LICENCE
Prior to any works commencing it is important that you contact the relevant state water authority to ensure you have the required bore construction licence and water extraction licences. Legion Drilling drillers are unable to commence any water bore drilling without viewing this licence.
RESIDENTIAL WATER BORES
Legion Drilling does not generally install residential water bores as our equipment and systems have been developed for working with large mining, agricultural and infrastructure projects.
