Sydney Geotechnical Drilling Rig update - Sonic, Diamond and CPTu

A new rig capable of Diamond Coring, Air & Mud Rotary and SPT for our Sydney and NSW clients

Legion drilling Comacchio 405 Truck mounted Geotechnical drilling rig based in Sydney NSW.

This truck-mounted drilling rig is the latest addition to the Sydney teams fleet.

The list of new additions to our full range of rigs and geotechnical testing equipment continues. To compliment our crawler rigs received a Comacchio MC-T 405 truck mounted rig for our Sydney depot. clients This means more unique options for your project and reduced wait times to get a geotechnical rig onsite.

This is a multi-purpose rig capable of diamond coring (HQ/PQ), air rotary and mud rotary, automatic SPT and augering (solids and hollows). The truck-mounted machine will complement our various track-mounted rigs to meet any project requirements.

Did you miss the arrival of our 2nd sonic/geotech rig to Syndey?

Legion drillings MC900 sonic geotechnical drilling rig is fitted with a powerful drill head for dealing with the toughest ground conditions Sydney.

As we recently announced, we have added to our Sydney sonic fleet with a Comacchio MC900P rig. With the option to use a traditional coring head this machine allows for the drilling of difficult formations with full sample recovery and then completing hq3 core tails into competent rock. With Sydney drilling locations dealing with botany sands on the east and river gravels in the west, this is a great option to ensure certainty on your upcoming geotechnical or environmental site investigation.

Sonic drilling is often the preferred method in challenging scenarios where other techniques face limited sampling recovery. Think of gravelly profiles, tailings storage facilities, dams, landfills, mineral exploration, overwater applications, etc.

This rig is capable of sonic sampling (100m - 300mm sample tube), sonic casing (150 - 235mm) as well as other methods such as diamond coring (from NMLC to PQ3), rotary air and SPT. This rig comes with an integrated rod presenter to minimise rod handling and ensure safe operations in the strictest sites.

Sonic? Coring? CPT? Packer Testing

You need it, we have it

Given the number of recent additions to our Wetherill Park depot in the past few months, we thought of sharing an updated list of multi-purpose rigs and equipment currently available for your next project.

Geotech – Comacchio GEO 205

Compact machine with diamond coring capabilities.

CPT – Geoprobe® 77/78 X 3 Units

3x rigs capable of CPT, Seismic CPT, DMT, electrical vane shear testing.…with the option to drill with augers and rotary air hammer for geotechnical instrument installation this is a highly versatile option. Why mobilise a CPT rig and drilling rig to your project if you can do it with one machine.

Sonic – Geoprobe® 8140LS

Often travelling around the country. The smallest of our Sonic rigs but still packs a lot of power. Drill through botany sands and Penrith gravels with confidence.

Geotech – Boart Longyear DB520

The big sister of the 205. This crawler mounted rig is setup for HQ3 diamond drilling to depths of 200m plus. This rig can be supplied with compressor for efficient rotary air drilling in rock formations. All our geotech rigs can be supplied with casing advance systems for ensuring borehole stability in the most difficult drilling conditions.

Vac truck – 3000-L Hydrovac unit

300L vac units for your hydrovac NDD needs. Ensure you have your mud tanks clean an you are off site on time without relying on third party contractors.

All this in addition to the new two rigs, a full suite of in-situ testing tools, concrete coring gear, soil disposal equipment and of course all the resources from our other depots in Brisbane and Townsville.
