Contaminated Land Management: from Site Screening to Closure

Free, half-day workshops in, Brisbane and Sydney with speakers from USA and Australia

Presenters from USA and Australia will cover many of the technical developments that are now available to manage contaminated sites in a more efficient and sustainable manner. These range from direct sensing tools, mobile labs and discrete groundwater samplers for adaptive, high-resolution site characterisation (HRSC) to low- and high-pressure injection technologies enabling targeted delivery of remedial amendments in all geologies, from sandy aquifers to low-permeability zones and fractured rock. Basics of environmental drilling and sampling will also be briefly introduced.

The event is oriented to site owners, regulators and contaminated land practitioners interested in sustainable and effective strategies to manage sites from screening to closure.

Thanks to ALGA, CRC CARE and Site Investigation Supply for supporting this event.

Speakers:

-Mike Mazzarese, MSc, will fly from Colorado, USA, to share his experiences at injection projects working for leading remediation contractors in America. Among other topics, Mike will discuss the application of FLUORO-SORB®, Australia’s latest technology for in-situ PFAS sequestration.
-Jonas Garcia-Rincon holds a PhD on HRSC from CSIRO and recently edited a book for Springer on advanced site characterisation and remediation technologies with the participation of 50+ global experts. All attendees will receive a link to download the book after its publication.
-Matthew Hansen, Director at Legion Drilling (formerly Numac), a specialist provider of site investigation and remediation services that brought to Australia technologies such as sonic drilling, direct sensing tools for HRSC and high-energy injection of remedial slurries.
